Most computer users have a lot of music files stored on their hard disk. That's because digital music files are much easier and more convenient to play than regular audio CDs, having almost the same quality but taking up less disk space. But having so many songs stored on your computer can become a problem at some point. I am referring to organizing all your music in an efficient way, for being able to quickly find a desired song whenever you need it. The Windows operating system doesn't include a tool for efficiently organizing music, as Windows Media Player, the default media playback software, lacks a lot of features when it comes to organizing music.

That's why it's a goo idea to install a separate application for this task. A program which can help you organize all your music files in the most efficient way is Songbird. The installation process of this simple Windows application completes very fast and requires only a few clicks for this. After installing the application, the user will be asked to enter the path to his music folder. By default, the My Music system folder is used. Besides that, one is offered the possibility to select several add-ons to be installed. These add-ons can extend the functionality of Songbird and can add new features to it. For example, using specific add-ons, the program can rip audio CDs or access the Last.fm website directly and play online music in its interface.

After completing the configuration steps, the user will see all his music files listed in the main interface, together with some additional information regarding each of them. As such, the artist, album, song duration and other related information will be displayed. For making it easy to find a certain song, Songbird includes in its interface an efficient search tool which can look for music as you type, in real time. There are also several views available, which display albums, artists and so on, efficiently grouped in the interface.

For improving sound, there is an advanced equalizer included in the interface. This is ideal especially for low quality recordings. Songbird allows adding an unlimited number of music folders to its interface and also supports playlists created with other similar applications.
